From Amish Farm to NASCAR Championship in 14 Years
In 2007, Marlin Yoder saw his first NASCAR race. He was 17 years old, had just left the Amish community, and had an 8th-grade education. He had never driven a car, never used a smartphone, never watched television.
Everyone said it was impossible.
But Marlin refused to accept that. Through relentless work, determination, and an Amish-bred commitment to excellence, he worked his way from grassroots racing to Hendrick Motorsports—the most successful team in NASCAR history.
In 2021, as the front-end mechanic on Kyle Larson's #5 Chevrolet, Marlin helped win the NASCAR Cup Series Championship during one of the most dominant seasons in recent NASCAR history—10 wins, 2,581 laps led, and the championship trophy.
He's also competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans (2023) as part of NASCAR's historic Garage 56 entry, and was featured on Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s podcast, where Dale Jr. called it "one of the most remarkable stories I've ever heard in NASCAR."
